Day 14 - cont.: One Hot Mess

This was our last weekend at home until October. As you can imagine, it was insane busy. Saturday am, we woke at 4:30 for our triathlon. All the hard training paid off - we survived and managed to have fun.

You only got to see a sneak peek of Friday's work the other day and I know you've been dying to see the rest.

Well, Friday pm, we came home to a hot mess.

About 5 gas co. trucks in our street.

A bull-dowser barreling through the yard:

Tearing up the driveway:

And tearing up our neighbor's yard:

Our friendly neighbor, Doug, was not so friendly when he came home on Friday.

You can probably understand why.

In all honesty, it really wasn't our fault. We knew they had to move the gas line from the back to the side of the house to make room for the future deck. We did not know this involved destroying neighbor's yard. We bought him a six pack of his favorite beer (corona) to make up for it. I think one more six pack and he will forgive us.

Putting in the new gas line:

Those jokers quoted us 2.5 hrs of work. They arrived at 11am Friday. It was 7:45pm before they finally got to leave. And they still aren't done. Lucky for us, they contract states no overcharge past the initial estimate. Poor Doug does not know that they did not finish and will be coming back for more demolition tomorrow, though. I foresee a 12-pack of corona in his future.
