Ready, Set Sew!

Saturday morning, Michael sent me this link, asking if I wanted a project for the day. For some reason I agreed, despite my first very painful sewing experience.

Michael's shed was completed almost a year and a half ago. The curtains were still made out of a trash bag:

Since this sewing project was way easier than the first, I didn't take too many pics. The link above does a pretty good job of explaining things.

Unfortunately, Michael forgot to tell me that he wanted a double-paned curtain so that he could open it for light until I was nearly done.

Cutting the nearly done curtain in half:

I know you are sad, but I did not get any pics of the stitching being removed and the improvising to make two panes out of an original one.

Marking lines to make a stitch to fit the curtain rod in:

Fabric markers are the best. Once you're done with your line, you just rub it away with water. Genius.

More stitching and pressing:

And they open per husband's request:

Total cost: $12!
Fabric: $7 (Jo-Ann's Fabrics - the check-out lady scanned a 40% off coupon for me)
Thread: $1.50 (or there abouts, I can't find my receipt - Jo'Ann's Fabrics)
Curtain rods: $3 (Target)

Hooray for easy(er) sewing projects!
