A Hole in the House

New Year's Day, Michael decided to start picking at some slightly rotting wood on the side of our house. Before too long, we ended up with a huge hole. I did not get a pic, but you can pretty much get the idea from his patch job below and the pile of ruin in the bottom right:

Another typical move from the previous owners: too lazy to go out and buy a vent for the dryer, so they pieced a diy one together out of metal tubing.

Real dryer vent goes in at last:

Handy hubby made a custom-fit gutter to prevent future wood-decay:

Proudly attaching the gutter:

And of course, the new system had to be tested:

Spotted a leak!:

Sad face:

Lucky for handy hubby, I have become quite the caulking queen so got to relieve him of this part of the project. We still have to paint the new wood though. Unfortunate situation: the replacement paint we have does not exactly match, so the entire side of the house is going to have to be repainted. Lame-0.
